Connecticut Aikikai is a place where you can learn the art of Aikido, Weapons, Iaido and Zazen Meditation. It’s a safe, encouraging space where you can challenge yourself, grow as a person, stay fit and learn.
Aikido is a martial art created by Morihei Ueshiba in postwar Japan. It emphasizes connection and reconciliation as opposed to conflict. It is a true “budo” or way. Through the practice, you learn not only the art, but how to live in the world in a calmer, more centered way
Our dojo has been a New Haven landmark for over thirty years. Our Chief Instructor is Yahe Solomon, 7th Dan. (More info on our Teachers page).
Visitors are always welcome and we highly encourage all prospective students to come by to observe a class. All visiting Aikidoka are welcome to train in this dojo regardless of their Aikido affiliation. We ask that you introduce yourself to the instructor, sign a waiver, and pay a small mat fee.
